Recipes and Tips for Using Fresh Cherries

One of the most frequently asked questions we get is “What can I do with all these cherries”?? We have a lot of people that come down to the orchard with the intention of getting “just a few pounds to eat” and leaving with 15 or 20. The cherries are very easy to pick and it doesn’t take long to get a LOT!

They are very good for people who are diabetic or who have gout, so we encourage people to put up any extra produce they get, to use later. Store bought fruit is very expensive and for minimal cost, you can preserve cherries to last until the next harvest. It isn’t as hard as people believe, all it takes is a little time and patience.

Here are our instructions for Canning Cherries and our instructions for Freezing Cherries – both are great for preserving cherries for a longer period of time (at least a year).

You can turn out some very high quality preserved fruit, that is good for you and will last a long time. We’ve listed several of our favorite recipes and ways of preserving cherries. Please let us know if you have questions with any of the processes, we are happy to help!
